Title: Creating a Regulatory Pathway to Enable Advanced Recycling for Healthcare Plastics

Event Type: Show Floor Education

Description

As the healthcare industry continues to grapple with the growing challenges of waste management and environmental sustainability, there is an increasing need to close the loop on material supply chains and enable a more circular model for medical products and packaging. Advanced recycling technologies play a pivotal role in the pursuit of circularity by solving for the most difficult-to-recycle plastics, while also allowing for the creation of new plastic products with recycled content that is chemically and physically equivalent to those made with virgin fossil feedstocks. Leveraging these emerging technologies for healthcare applications requires foundational understanding of how these technologies apply to plastic supply chains, building industry consensus, and gaining regulatory acceptance to ensure patient safety is never compromised.

How can standards be a lever for sustainability and enable circular plastics in healthcare products? How can industry leverage a common framework to avoid repetitive, unnecessary testing and accelerate the path to a more circular future?

Join industry leaders from KiiP, IoPP MDPTC, and ASTM as they discuss the evolving standards landscape, and the journey to developing a regulatory pathway for acceptance of plastics derived from advanced recycling processes for healthcare applications.
