The search for alternatives to ethylene oxide (EO) sterilization is a real and pressing one. A mainstay for medical devices for decades, EO is facing serious questions from the EPA, FDA and medical device community about its safety and ecological impacts.
Jim Kasic, sterilization and product development expert, will discuss chlorine dioxide (CD) as a viable alternative to EO. He will review the chemistry and logistics in CD use, and outline the pros and cons of CD in relation to EO in performance, safety and ecologic compatibility. He will also present results the industry is experiencing with CD sterilization.
