Director of Advanced Materials Development at Technimark

Tom is currently the Director of Advanced Materials Development at Technimark LLC in Asheboro, NC, supporting Technimark’s global material science and sustainability efforts. This includes providing product and process development support for Technimark’s recycling division and achieving clients’ sustainability goals.

With 40 years’ experience in the polyolefins and thermoplastics industry working for resin producers, refiners, compounders, and converters. Tom has a strong technical background and is a subject matter expert in recycling polyolefins.

Tom is the vice-chair of the Association of Plastics Recyclers (APR) Board of Directors. He also chairs the Olefins Technical Committee creating technical guidance for APR’s Design Guide and participates in the APR chemical recycling working group. Tom represents Technimark on the Healthcare Plastics Recycling Council (HPRC) and is a member of its executive committee. Tom serves as a subject matter expert to the Closed Loop Partners Infrastructure Investment Committee. Tom is a member of the ASTM E60.42 subcommittee and is the technical contact for work underway to produce an ASTM guide on designing for recyclability of single-use medical products and packaging.

Tom obtained his BS in Polymer Science Engineering from Case Western Reserve University and his MS from the University of Pennsylvania/Wharton School of Business in Technology Management. He is an avid runner and enjoys trail and mountain running.
